My Big Bro

For about 6 months now, Timo has been having some pain in his hip. It started gradual, but recently got worse. He started going to physical therapy for it, but it wasn't help. He finally decided to see some more doctors about this problem. This is when it began to pile up. The doctors found a growth the size of a peach in his hip. They took blood sample and more tests to figure out what it was.

Wednesday, August 17, 2011 Timo went in to hear the news. There was nothing good about it. He has Ewing Sarcoma. It's a type of cancer that grows in bones and tissue rather than in organs like traditional cancer. More unfortunate news is that it's stage 4 and has spread to his lungs.

I called Timo that Wednesday afternoon to see how his appointment went. He answered just as he was finishing his last test. He gave me the verdict. Honestly, it didn't sink in at first. I carried on with my normal daily activity. That evening, I wanted to call Kaysie to let her know what was going on. That's when it hit me. I could barely get the word 'cancer' out of my mouth before breaking down.

It's scary stuff, no doubt about that. But Timo is handling it very well. He knows that his joy is in the Lord and that he could be meeting Jesus soon. It's easing to know that the best is in control. God will protect his if necessary. Although this isn't God's will, it can be used for good. I personally think that something like this can be used to bring my parents to faith.

The support from our friends and family has been great. Please keep praying and knowing that our joy is found in the Lord, not on this earth.
